5 Dog-Friendly Parks Around Antioch, IL

For anyone with a dog, you know how important it is to get them out everyday for some fresh air and exercise. Taking them on the same walk around the neighborhood everyday can get a little boring. Luckily, if you live in the Antioch, Illinois, area, there are some cool dog-friendly parks where you can go to enjoy a change of pace. Bring your dog to one of these locations the next time you’re looking for somewhere new to explore together.

 

Waukegan Savanna Dog Park

The Waukegan Savanna Dog Park is one of the newest off-leash dog parks in the area. It provides your dog with 11 acres of space to run around and make some new friends. It’s entirely fenced, so you can rest assured they’ll be safe. If you have a smaller dog, there’s a separate enclosed area just for dogs weighing less than 25 pounds. Drinking water for both dogs and their humans is available as well as shade shelters with seating.

 

Duck Farm Dog Park

The entrance to Duck Farm Dog Park is located on Grand Avenue. Here, you’ll find open areas and grass fields spread over 48 acres. Your dog will enjoy running around in the various terrain that gives them plenty of opportunities to explore a new environment. For you, there are toilets and a drinking fountain available, which means you can give your pet more time to play.

 

Independence Grove Dog Park

Not far from Antioch, in Libertyville, you’ll find Independence Dog Park. This location was voted Best Dog Park by North Shore magazine, and it makes a great place for you and your pet to spend time together. It’s a 30-acre fenced area with a large pond where your dog can swim. There are also wooded areas for you and your dog to explore. This dog park is separate from the rest of the Independence Grove Preserve, so it has its own entrance on Milwaukee Avenue.

 

Lakewood Dog Park

Lakewood Dog Park is a 66-acre area located in Wauconda. It gives dogs the chance to run in large open meadows, and you can walk with your pet along mowed trails. The entire area is fenced, so there’s no need to worry about your pet’s safety. You can hang out under the shade shelter while your dog plays, or grab some water from the hand pump and get out there and play with them.

 

Prairie Wolf Dog Park

This special dog-friendly place has everything you could want in a dog park. It’s located in Lake Forest and sits on 44 acres. Training enclosures, large fields, and a pond are some of the great features found at this park. Water for dogs and their owners is available as well as toilets.

 

Head to one of these great dog parks and let your dog enjoy the company of other dogs in addition to getting some exercise. They’re safe and friendly locations for you and your furry, four-legged friend. Keep in mind you do need to purchase a permit to enjoy these off-leash dog parks.
